AMY DARE MIDDLETON

ABOUT
Influenced by expressionist and impressionist painters, I'm mainly concerned with capturing mood through color, form and brush strokes. I've long been inspired by the landscape of my beloved Cape Cod. I'm drawn to its magical light, expansive skies and ever-changing seas. The bright colors and floral patterns of the seventies and eighties have influenced my work. I am an art educator, teaching at Chatham Elementary School and the Creative Arts Center, as well as private lessons to children and adults. I studied art at Southern Methodist University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Studio Art. I continued my studies at Montserrat College of Art, Massachusetts College of Art and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. I am a member of the Creative Arts Center in Chatham and the Provincetown Arts Association and Museum. I show my work at Mark August in Chatham, with the Guild of Chatham Painters, and in regional shows throughout the year.
